    About Meditative Yoga

    Our Story

    At Meditative Yoga the desire is to live yoga everyday. We all wish to feel centered and happy. This was instilled in me by my mother, Gurani Anjali, founder of Yoga Anand Ashram.  I found yoga incredibly practical. In coming full circle I am continuing as my mother did to share this great practice. The blending of the body practices of posture and breath with  meditation brings us to deep peace and profound wisdom. 

    Our Approach

    In the ancient text of India , the Rig Veda, there is a line that states “Truth is one, sages call it by various names.” This truth can only be known to us through our desire and effort. This is what brought me to commit  to the yoga tradition in which  I was raised. I teach as my mother, Gurani Anjali, did. We must fearlessly examine our lives  and study  the sacred texts in order to become reacquainted with our body/mind and that which illuminates our existence.

    Why walk the Yoga Path?

    Many of us have a profound desire to know ourselves. Yogic life begins with the practice of yoga postures and meditation. The beauty of yoga is that it leads us to our authentic selves. Our approach is to look at all the facets of our body & mind and be compassionate towards ourselves. Everything in class is done in a manner which is relaxed and focused. We strive to cultivate an intentional attitude of self inquiry that leads us to our own authenticity.

    Notes from the Yoga Path

    Sharing Yoga is sharing my life. Yoga has been the foundational aspect of my upbringing and worldview. It is the way I walk and talk. It is an intention to watch the movement of life & to  live  in freedom.

    Yoga & Meditation


    The definition of Yoga is “citta vritti nirodha” the stilling of the waves of the mind, from the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. In this space there is absolute clarity and peace. The practice of Yoga especially of meditation cultivates a calm mind where the the seer resides as itself unfettered by the changing flucuations.
